Abstract

The present study aimed to establish a critical and dialectical reflection on existing methods for the literacy of autistic children in a neuropsychopedagogical perspective. To achieve this objective, an integrative literature review was chosen, using the Pubmed, Scielo, Science Direct database, between 2014 and 2020, with the following keywords in Portuguese and English: literacy for children autistic; literacy programs for autistic people. Our results show the existence of reading and writing programs that use books, handouts and digital applications, which can be downloaded on computers, tablets or cell phones. The TEACCH program stands out, which since the beginning of literacy also contributes to the organization of daily activities, materials and environments used by the child and finally the Phonic Method also stands out, which is a method of literacy that first stimulates the learning of the sounds of each letter to later build sounds together (syllables) to achieve the complete pronunciation of the word.
