This research aims to answer the question: how is teaching knowledge formed for teaching art among teachers who worked in the early years of elementary school in the Municipality of Fortaleza? To answer this question, the elements of the initial training of these professionals were raised. Therefore, the nature of this research is qualitative, and the theoretical-methodological path was based on discussions about teaching knowledge, Art teaching and teacher training. Semi-structured interviews were used as data collection instruments. As research findings, it was pointed out that the research subjects bring to Art teaching elements of their initial training, experiences, and training conducted outside the school context to develop their respective work.
