Declaration of Ethics and Malpractice of Publication
By submitting an article to the Canoa do Tempo magazine, the authors agree to the following Declaration of Ethics and Malpractice of Publication.
1 - Duties and responsibilities of the authors
Originality and Plagiarism
All manuscripts must be original works by the authors and must not show plagiarism (or self-plagiarism). The magazine understands that any form of plagiarism is not acceptable and uses anti-plagiarism review tools. Therefore, all articles received will be checked using plagiarism detection tools before they are sent for review by the referees. In case of detection of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or misconduct, the works will be returned to the authors.
Bad conduct
In no event will the journal or its editors encourage misconduct, or knowingly allow any form of professional misconduct to occur.
If the journal is informed of any procedure recognized as research misconduct, the editor and the technical team will verify the veracity of the complaint and may send the work to the author in order for it to make the necessary adjustments or, in cases of greater severity, temporarily or permanently delete the work from the magazine's website.
Authorship of the Article
The authorship of a manuscript should be limited to authors who have made significant contributions.
Multiple, redundant or simultaneous publishing
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
Recognition of sources
Authors must properly and accurately recognize the work of others.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest and financial support
Authors must disclose any conflict of financial interest or other circumstance that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript and recognize the individuals or organizations that have provided financial support for the research.
Data access and retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data in connection with manuscripts for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, if possible.
2- Editors' duties and responsibilities
Editors are responsible for everything published in this magazine. Publishers strive to:
- Meet the needs of readers and authors
- Constantly improve the journal
- Ensure the maintenance of freedom of expression
- Maintain the integrity of the academic record
- Prevent commercial interests from affecting the magazine's intellectual and ethical standards
- Be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and excuses when necessary.
Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts submitted to the journal should be reviewed or published.
Fair game
Editors must ensure the integrity of the publication review process. As such, editors should not disclose the identity of the authors of the manuscripts to the reviewers, nor the identity of the reviewers to the authors.
Confidentiality
Editors must treat manuscripts received for review as confidential documents and must not disclose any information about manuscripts submitted to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, other editorial consultants and the editor.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Editors and any editorial staff must not use materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript (published or not) for their own research without the written authorization of the author.
Investigations
Editors must conduct an adequate and fair investigation of ethical complaints.
Corrections
If there is a need to make a specific correction in an article already published, the author should forward his request to the journal, justifying the need for correction.
The editor and the technical team will evaluate the request and decide whether the correction is appropriate or not.The editors and the technical team may, whenever deemed necessary or provoked, publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies if necessary.
3 - Liability of reviewers
Confidentiality
Reviewers must keep all information related to articles confidential and treat them as privileged information.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively, without personal criticism of the author.
Contribution to editorial decision
Reviewers must express their opinions clearly with supporting arguments.
Readiness
Reviewers must complete their reviews within a specified time.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies or institutions linked to the articles.
