About us
The CANOA DO TEMPO Journal (digital ISSN: 2594-8148; ISSN printed version: 1982-0755 - last edition in 2015) is an online academic publication maintained and edited by the Graduate Program in History at the Federal University of Amazonas (PPGH-UFAM). It aims to disseminate unpublished research results in History field and interdisciplinar areas, with an special emphasis on studies regarding the Amazon region. Its target audience is researchers, students and others interested in the field of History and related areas.
The scientific council has specialists from nationally and internationally recognized institutions. This Journal does not charge fees, and the content is available in Open Access.
This journal accepts submissions of unpublished articles, in a continuous flow system, produced by doctors and doctoral students in History and in related areas. In addition to the thematic dossiers, papers are published in the section of free articles, interviews and book reviews, promoting the dissemination of scientific production with an emphasis on studies focused on the Amazon.
The criteria for selecting the theme of each dossier are attentive to national and international historiographic debates, encouraging the construction of a fruitful dialogue between researchers from different Brazilian regions. Its articles are cataloged in the following metadata indexers, search engines and virtual libraries: FREE: open access magazines; Academic Google; UFAM Journal Portal; Summary of Brazilian Magazines; Diadorim; CiteFactor: academic cientific journals; Scientific Indexing Services; Latindex ; REDIB; DOAJ.
Periodicity
Until 2020, Canoa do Tempo was edited every six months. However, from the year 2021 on, the review adopted the continuous flow publication system, launching an annual edition corresponding to the period from January to December. Each annual edition has at least two dossiers, in addition to free articles, book reviews and interviews received in the continuous flow system and accepted by the board.
Free Access Policy
This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.
The double-blind peer review policy
- All journal contents are submitted to an evaluation and review by external reviewers using the double-blind peer review method.
- Peer review is the process of obtaining opinions on individual manuscripts from expert reviewers in the field. This process is clearly described on our website.
- The opinions must be as objective as possible and sufficiently grounded to allow the improvement of the research and the evaluated manuscript
- Reviewers should have no conflicts of interest which is stated the journal's system when conducting an assessment.
- Reviewers should always draw attention to texts or excerpts that have already been published and that have not been properly cited.
- All articles evaluated are treated confidentially.
- Whenever a text has academic quality and meets the criteria established by the journal, it is sent for double-blind peer review by at least two external reviewers.
- The manuscript will be published whenever it complies with the criteria and norms established by the journal and receives a favorable opinion from at least two external reviewers through the double-blind peer review system.
This Journal understands that any form of plagiarism is not acceptable and uses anti-plagiarism review tools.
Ethics Code
Canoa do Tempo adopts as a Ethics Code the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
About Copyright and Publication Rights
- Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to initial publication, with simultaneous work licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International CC BY-NC 4.0 license, and may also publish their works online in institutional repositories / disciplinary actions or on their own websites.
