Este artigo tem como objetivo fazer uma discussão sobre a História Ambiental Urbana a partir da elaboração de uma revisão historiográfica que procura analisar o surgimento deste campo de estudos, as relações com a área da História Ambiental, indicar alguns de seus principais seus autores, bem como a definição de suas principais temáticas. A revisão historiográfica resulta de uma seleção/recorte de artigos e obras de pesquisadores norte-americanos, considerando a abordagem metodológica da Revisão Sistemática da Literatura (RSL). Inicialmente, apresenta-se aspectos relativos ao processo de urbanização no período posterior à Segunda Guerra Mundial, seus efeitos sobre as transformações ambientais e o surgimento do campo da História Ambiental, decorrente das transformações verificadas nas décadas de 1960 e 1970.
