O MODELO TEÓRICO DA PAISAGEM: UMA REVISÃO DE IDEIAS E ABORDAGENS

Abstract

The landscape, before establishing itself as a concept, considering since it is seen as a description of “everything that the eye can reach”, accompanies the history of humanity. Unveiling the environment meant unveiling its features, which understands the landscape. The present work aims to elaborate a review of the 'landscape', considering the ideas that emerged from the period when the 'landscape' still did not constitute a concept or discipline, since it did not have a scientifically structured method, until the current approaches. Thus, from a methodological point of view, this work constitutes a systematic review on the theme of landscape, considering different approaches that emerged during the period of consolidation of the concept: (i) the landscape of historic gardens; (ii) the landscape in the art of paintings; (iii) the landscape of the voyages of discovery; (iv) the landscape in the study of plants (botany) and ecosystems (ecology); (v) the landscape in the view of geography (temporality/spatiality of physical, human and cultural attributes). Today, 'landscape' is understood as a specialized scientific discipline, where the new areas of knowledge, which arise in the midst of the transformations of modern science, have been integrating and contributing to the theoretical model of 'landscape science'. Landscaping, architecture, tourism, and contemporary geography, for example, which have a tradition in the use and application of this concept, are currently advancing in the scope of the theoretical model of the landscape, understanding it as an important theoretical-methodological contribution to the integrated study of the elements that make up the landscapes.
