Do confessionalismo à crítica
a formação em Serviço Social no Brasil
Abstract
This article analyzes the trajectory of professional education in Social Work in Brazil, highlighting the dispute between the confessional and critical projects. The objective is to understand the strategies used to consolidate each of these projects. The methodology adopted includes documentary and bibliographic review. Among the results, we observe that ABESS, initially hegemonic, promoted a training model based on religious values until the 1950s. This hegemony was challenged following the Social Work Turn and the transformation of ABESS into ABEPSS, through which the critical project gained strength by incorporating a materialist interpretation of reality.
Keywords: Professional education. Social Work. ABESS. ABEPSS.
