Child and Infractional Act:
A protective Approach on Childhood
Abstract
This paper addresses a less discussed topic on children's policy agenda: the conflict with law related to children. Opposed to a punitive approach, the study sought to understand the flows and characteristics of protective care offered by professionals in the rights guarantee system (SGD), as well as their views and practices on this aspect. The fieldwork took place in the city of Rio de Janeiro, so forth the outcomes refer to this territory, although they may be indicative of recurring trends in other spaces. Bibliographical mapping was carried out on the infraction, minority, documentary research in a Guardianship Council and semi-structured interviews with actors selected for their political influence in the field. The main considerations refer to the incipient prominence that the topic has in studies on childhood, possibly due to the prevention of side effects or unwanted developments of a punitive nature.
Keywords: childhood, infraction, guarantee of rights.
