This research aimed to understand the importance of language skills, called auditory comprehension, oral expression, reading and writing, in English classes, having as research territory the Center for Language Studies (CEL) of the Faculty of Languages of the Federal University of Amazonas (FLET-UFAM), based on the assumption that the idea of interlocution results from the construction of a set of language practices, in which language is the code of interaction, is what makes the use of communication in a productive and receptive way. The project is based on the principles of the communicative approach, based on the studies of Douglas Brown (1994), Penny your (2006), Jeremy Harmer (2007), Almeida Filho (2008), among other specialists in linguistics applied to language teaching and learning. The specific objectives were based on the descriptive analysis of the application of language skills in the context of language teaching and learning, mapping the parameters of integration of the four skills and formulating a framework on the application of language skills from the activities developed in the English classes of CEL. The research is qualitative in nature and in a bibliographic methodological procedure. Data collection was performed through research instrument I with cel trainee teachers and the results obtained suggest that CEL English classes help the construction of communicative competence based on the assumption that the construction of meaning is a product resulting from the integration process of the four language skills.
