Resumo

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi caracterizar o conforto térmico da cidade de Santarém, oeste do Pará, por meio da metodologia de Thom proposta em 1959. Para isso, utilizou-se dados diários de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar, coletados a partir de estações meteorológicas automáticas do Aeroporto Internacional Wilson Fonseca que pertence a Rede de Meteorologia da Aeronáutica (REDEMET) no período de 1999 a 2018, totalizando 20 anos de dados. Com base nessas variáveis meteorológicas, calculou-se o índice de desconforto de Thom (ID) que é uma metodologia empírica, capaz de representar o ambiente térmico. Empregou-se a estatística descritiva no intuito de analisar os registros por meio de medidas de posição, dispersão e gráficos, onde o software livre R 3.4.1 foi utilizado para realizar as análises. Os resultados indicam que o desconforto é predominante durante o ano inteiro, com poucos dias confortáveis. Esses resultados ressaltam a necessidade de medidas que busquem a melhoria nas condições térmicas da cidade de Santarém que pode ser feita por meio de arborização e uso de matérias de construções que apresentam baixos níveis de retenção de calor.
