Abstract

The Metropolitan Region of Manaus - RMM is legally established, but in terms of socio-spatial expression, it is still under development. The clipping consists of the metropolis and the southern metropolitan region, mainly the municipality of Iranduba. The present proposal aims to understand the internal dynamics of the RMM through the process of metropolization of the space associated to the discourse that seeks to justify it. This is a geographical analysis, based on the semiotics, the structure of language, or rather, the discourse of metropolization in the RMM by the State. Nevertheless, without forgetting the importance of the consumers and modellers of the urban space for the processes of extensification of the metropolis. This research, therefore, discusses elements of the metropolization of space and how it appears through discourse, much evidenced as an aspect of the modern having as the main agent (in the Western Amazon), the State.
