Efeitos da terapia de grupo no processo de recuperação dos doentes toxicodependentes no Hospital Psiquiátrico de Infulene – Maputo
Abstract
This scientific article is the result of a study conducted at the Infulene Psychiatric Hospital (HPI) in Maputo. It addresses drug addiction as a public health problem that has reached alarming proportions in almost all of Mozambican society. The results reveal that individuals face this situation due to easy access to drugs (alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, cocaine, cannabis, etc.). Among the main causes of drug addiction identified by respondents are poor family supports during adolescence, bad influences from friends and colleagues, and conflictual romantic or marital relationships. This study aims to assess the importance of group therapy administered by a multidisciplinary team of specialists in the recovery process of drug addicts receiving treatment at HPI. The study uses a qualitative approach and case study method, analyzing the effects of group therapy on the recovery of 10 drug-addicted patients at HPI, divided between outpatient and inpatient treatment.
