Abstract

This article brings up a debate about the functioning of science and the role of the researcher in science itself. Draws a parallel between Thomas Kuhn's innovative theories on the progress of science, which goes through the pre-paradigmatic, paradigm, normal science, crisis and revolution / new paradigm phases, with the history of the evolution of Inclusive Education as a research area. To this end, Thomas Kuhn's work “The Structure of Scientific Revolutions” was used, which demonstrates the importance of the historical and philosophical aspects of science. It was concluded that Kuhn's theories favor the understanding of the historical and philosophical evolution process of Inclusive Education studies and all the paradigms, crises and revolutions that have brought to the understandings that people with disabilities have today. At the end, we established relationships between what was addressed and what we intend to develop in the research project.
