The training of secondary teachers at the UDF Arts Institute (1935-1939)
The present work focuses on the research of a School Institution little studied in educational historiography. This is the Arts Institute of the University of the Federal District (RJ) - IA / UDF. This university was created by Anísio Teixeira in 1935. However, the UDF had a short existence (1935 to 1939), many works were written about the University and its schools, but there were no studies about its Institute of Arts. Thus, the main objective of this research is to understand how the UDF Institute of Arts was created, its functioning and what links it promoted between the field of Visual Arts and the school in an attempt to constitute an artistic-school culture. The theoretical framework that guides the reflections of this research is based on the works of the following authors: Barbosa (2010, 2011, 2015), Cunha (2000, 2002) Lopes (2006, 2009) and Mendonça (2002). The methodology consisted of documentary analysis of the collections of the following institutions: UFRJ Education and Society Program of Studies and Documentation; Portinari Project of PUC-Rio and Digital Library of the National Library. The analysis of the sources confirmed the difference in purposes between the National School of Fine Arts and the UDF Arts Institute, revealing the UDF's AI as an innovative experience in the field of art education in Brazil.
