The essay articulates two distinct fields, the school (which has its emphasis on the transmission of knowledge) and the media (with its logic of consumption and entertainment), both have their own ways of operating and their different purposes, considered in the text as “structuring grammars” of school culture and media culture. The arguments presented in this text seek to reflect on the possibility of the school culture from its knowledge and practices, to bring to its interior the resources, discourses and images of the media culture, not as mere instrumental or didactic ends, but in the sense of giving centrality to the possible pedagogical work with/through/to the media in light of the elements of the contemporary (as proposed by the media-education field). Thus, we also analyze possibilities and limits in this articulation between school culture and media culture, recognizing the power of the school and its traditional dimension in relation to formal knowledge, but also the resources that media culture allows us and that can be used, explored and deepened in education.
