Focus and Scope

Somanlu: Journal of Amazonian Studies publishes original works in the broad field of Humanities, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches, stemming from research conducted about and within the Amazonia. The journal accepts contributions in the form of original articles, methodological notes, and interviews in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

The journal requires a minimum degree qualification for publication, accepting contributions from graduate students (master's and doctoral students), master's and PhDs degree holders. Undergraduate students (and those at latu sensu postgraduate courses) involved in scientific initiation must submit works co-authored by a professor with a PhD.

No processing fee is required from authors, and all published articles have open and free online access for readers.

Somanlu focuses on disseminating scientific research in the Humanities about the Amazon, understood here in its multiple and complex perspectives that demand multi- and interdisciplinary approaches. In this sense, contributions are welcome from Anthropology, Archaeology, Political Science, Education, Epistemology, Philosophy, Geography, History, Psychology, International Relations, Sociology, Arts, Music, Literature, Linguistics, Administration, Architecture and Urbanism, Communication, Demography, Law, Economics, Journalism Public Policy, Social Work, Bioethics, and Environmental Sciences, as well as from other fields of knowledge that promote dialogues with the Humanities.
