Abstract

The article analyzes the relationship between the boi-bumbá and the growth of the city of Parintins in the last three decades. The urbanization results into disregard of the local power and migration from the country to the city due to the great inundations and the lack of agricultural politics. It takes into account the excluding urbanization and boi-bumbá as decisive factin the new urban structuring, though the Festival can’t be responsible for the disordered growth of the city neither for its social problems.
