A PROPOSAL OF AN INVESTIGATIVE PATHWAY FOR RESEARCH IN SCIENCE EDUCATION

Abstract

This paper presents a proposal for an investigative pathway designed to support the planning and organization of research in Science Education, particularly studies related to undergraduate and postgraduate academic work, such as final course projects, master’s dissertations, and doctoral theses. Based on the authors’ academic experience, which involved dialogical interactions with students during research supervision processes and participation in examination committees, the study systematizes the essential stages of scientific research. The proposal addresses key elements such as research approach, theme delimitation, research question and problem, justification, hypothesis, objectives, theoretical framework, methodological procedures, ethical considerations, data analysis, and organization of the research process. Emphasis is placed on qualitative research approaches, which are widely used in educational research due to their potential to investigate phenomena influenced by sociocultural contexts. The text aims to provide a clear, accessible, and structured guide to assist novice and experienced researchers in developing coherent, methodologically sound, and ethically responsible research in Science Education. The proposed investigative pathway highlights the importance of continuous reflection, flexibility, and theoretical grounding throughout the research process, contributing to the quality and rigor of academic production in the field.
