The Search for Housing in Land Occupations in the City of Parintins in 2016: An Ethnography
Abstract
This article is the result of an ethnographic research conducted in two land occupations in the city of Parintins, Amazonas, named Castanhal and Pascoal Alágio. Its aim is to present some observations and narratives about the search for housing in the occupations that emerged in 2016. The observations included here were based on the active participation of women in these mobilizations, drawing from their experiences with housing issues, such as renting, living with family, and facing eviction orders. The narratives of the participants revealed that the difficulty of accessing housing is a reality that mainly affects women, especially black women, mothers, and those living in peripheral areas.
