Conflitos territoriais e ambientais no mapa da cartografia social do sofrimento, fixados pelos grandes empreendimentos no nordeste paraense
Abstract
TERRITORIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONFLICTS IN THE MAP OF THE SOCIAL CARTOGRAPHY OF SUFFERING, FIXED BY LARGE DEVELOPMENTS IN THE NORTHEAST PARAENSE
This article analyzes territorial and environmental conflicts, involving large enterprises and traditional peoples in the Agroextractive Settlement Project (PAE) in the municipality of Abaetetuba, region of Baixo Tocantins, State of Para, Brazil. To understand the disputes and interests at stake, this situation was ethnographed, between the years 2017 and 2019, using theoretical support from political ecology and anthropology. The results point to a convergence of interests between the actors of development, who do not dialogue with the interests of the people from the place, such as the enactment of laws whose main beneficiaries are the large agribusiness companies worldwide and business groups. By territorializing themselves in this region, these companies have disrupted the social world of the lowland of the Amazon estuary and highlighted the increasingly strong antagonism between the environment and development strategies in areas on the periphery of the capitalist system.
