In this article the author critically analyzes The Rubber Plantation and the Plantation Workers, a book by Arthur Cezar Ferreira Reis which presents itself as a scientific work, and makes a comparison and a parallel between it and the novel The Jungle by Ferreira de Castro, showing the fictitious aspects of the former and the sociological components of the latter, constituting a sort of mirror where we can delineate the dialects of the rubber plantations, the most important economic cycle of the Amazon region at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the present.
