Abstract

The process of religiosity in the Amazon, as well as in other regions of the country, has been forged under influence of indigenous traditions combined with ancestral memories of European and African rituals, beliefs and culture. This study was carried out in the city of Manaus during the “novenas” (a 9 – sessions devotion) to Our Lady, in order to identify the emergence of an individual religiosity as a result of a new global order.
