As toadas dos bois Garantido e Caprichoso de Parintins-AM na versão de 2004

Abstract

The author attempts to explain the Amazonian mind-frame through the themes expressed in the lyrics of the toadas (songs) of the bois-bumbás (ritual bulls) of Parintins, outlining, however, that such lyrics have been long calling the merrymakers’ attention to current topics, such as the Amazonian people’s living conditions, the preservation of the Amazon environment, the struggle for survival of the Indian tribes and the defense of the native cultures. The ritual bulls cater to the native aspect of the respective representations unveiling some Amazon indigenous myths and evocating the great cultural hero-figures.
