ESCOLARIDAD HOSPITALARIA: A MEETING PLACE FOR CAREGIVERS OF PEDIATRIC PATIENTS
Abstract: This paper is the product of the professional practices that some psychology students from the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Iztacala-UNAM carried out at the Hospital Pediátrico Tacubaya, as part of their social service. The purpose of this work was to identify the relationship between peers that is made possible in the service called “Escolaridad Hospitalaria” of the Tacubaya Pediatric Hospital, as well as to demonstrate the way in which this relationship helps parents to cope with their child's accident and the consequences that this entails. The case of a couple assisting the service was analyzed, which it was possible to retrieve through extracts from two field notes writed by psychologists in training from the FES Iztacala, while they were performing their social service. A case analysis was carried out taking as reference the paradigm of Sociocultural Psychology.
