The decision for a profession is not an easy task due to many doubts and personal, family and social conflicts. When choosing a profession, there are many questions to be answered and evaluated with great caution, as it is a decision that will influence the subject's life project. Thus, it is understood that the choice of profession is a very important moment in the life of the human being. This work is an excerpt of the Master's research entitled: TEACHER TRAINING AND TEACHING KNOWLEDGE FOR CULTURAL DIVERSITY: a study with the graduates of the Pedagogy course at UFAM Campus de Humaitá. The objective of this work is to present and discuss the influences on the professional choice of professors graduating from the Pedagogy Course at UFAM, Campus de Humaitá, as well as the perception of the subjects on teaching in the early years of Elementary School. The approach used in the research was qualitative. To obtain the data, interviews were used, which were conducted with 7 teachers working in the early years of elementary school in the municipal network of Humaitá-AM. From the results presented, that the process of professional choice is permeated by social, cultural, economic characteristics and associated with social representations of professional career. The research also signaled that, in the professional choice of most participating teachers, there was family influence, allied to the interest in education, as well as, for having always had contact with the teaching profession.
