STRENGTHENING FAMILY MEMBERS OF PEOPLE DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY, EX-PRISONERS, ADOLESCENTS UNDER SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL MEASURES, AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH DIALOGICAL MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS:
THE EXPERIENCE OF THE VÍNCULOS PROJECT.
Abstract
The article presents an account of the Vínculos Project, a university extension project from PUC-Campinas conducted between 2020 and 2023 in partnership with the Secretary of Inclusion and Social Development of Hortolândia/SP. The project's main objective was to support and strengthen individuals affected by the prison and/or socio-educational systems, including former inmates, family members of incarcerated individuals, adolescents under socio-educational measures, and their families, through a dialogical approach based on the teachings of Paulo Freire. The theoretical framework for the discussion is grounded in studies on mass incarceration, penal selectivity, and the socio-structural inequalities that shape our country. The article also highlights the contribution of extension activities to the training of undergraduate students. The reports presented are based on the records made by scholarship students in their field diaries during the meetings and analyze the participants' experiences in light of the theories discussed.
