HISTORY OF AMAZONAS - THE MEANING, INTELLECTUAL AFFILIATIONS AND IMPACT OF THE INTELLECTUAL WORLD OF THE 1930S OF THE INAUGURAL BOOK BY HISTORIAN ARTHUR CÉZAR FERREIRA REIS
Abstract
With the turn of the 19th century to the 20th century, a lot changed, especially in historiography. With the intention of establishing a national identity, the state invested heavily in influencing the intellectual production of that century. In the Amazonian context, the crisis of the Amazonian oligarchies due to the collapse of the gum economy led to the need to also establish a regional identity, especially with the influence of the intellectuals of the period. With an emphasis on Ferreira Reis and his first book, this article aims to answer the following question: What intellectual traditions and discursive matrices influenced Reis in his inaugural book, History of Amazonas?
