Abstract

The present article has as its central study the patriarchal relations in the West from the literary perspective that were presented throughout the book: Land of Women, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in contrast to the perspective of gender equality, specifically, between the female audience, that constituted this new fictitious country isolated from other world civilizations. The problem developed throughout the study is: how was the conception of western patriarchy and social, political and economic inequality as a result of the discrepancy imposed on genders conceived by the American author in the work in question? With the general objective: to analyze the problematizations related to the disparity between male and female relationships made by the characters throughout their literary work. Therefore, the specific objectives, among them, are: to describe the specifications of the patriarchy present in the fictional literature in question; specify the female equality exposed throughout the fictional plot and identify the conceptions of the feminist movement present in the fictional literature addressed in this academic work.
