ESTRATÉGIAS DE APRENDIZAGEM E RENDIMENTO ACADÊMICO: ANÁLISE COM ESTUDANTES DE MEDICINA
Abstract
Learning strategies relate to the acquisition, storage and use of knowledge, enabling students to self-evaluate their learning process. This study aimed to evaluate the learning strategies used by medical students and their impact on academic performance. From 1st to 6th year, 252 medical students participated, with an average age of 22 years old and of both sexes. Data were collected through an electronic form, using as an instrument the Scale of Learning Strategies for University Students and a socioeconomic questionnaire. The results obtained revealed that the students use different learning strategies and have an average academic performance above that established for approval. No correlations were found between the academic achievement global score and the different factors of the learning strategies scale. This data suggests the need to evaluate both learning strategies and academic performance, considering the general educational context, institutional characteristics and aspects related to teaching practice and the established procedures for evaluating students' knowledge.
