This study is the result of a project that aimed to express the culture of indigenous peoples in the context of Youth and Adult Education (YAE), focusing on the promotion of indigenous art and culture as tools for inclusion and valorization of cultural diversity in the Amazon region. Through an extension project carried out in a public school in Urucará (AM), activities involving dance, music, and discussions about cultural identity were developed, enabling students to recognize the indigenous roots present in their everyday reality. The study examines the challenges and benefits of culturally situated teaching in EJA, emphasizing the importance of valuing indigenous cultures for building pluralistic, critical, and democratic education. The results indicate that incorporating indigenous culture into the school environment contributes to knowledge expansion, cultural identity strengthening, and social inclusion promotion, as well as stimulating respect for and preservation of local traditions. The study highlights the need for more effective and sustained educational policies that consider the Amazon’s cultural diversity, ensuring pedagogical spaces that value and acknowledge ancestral knowledge as a fundamental part of the educational process.
