Keywords:
Adolescents, School, Violence, PhenomenologyAbstract
Adolescence is widely discussed concerning social, psychological, and biological aspects. Among the phenomena that can compromise the healthy development of an adolescent is experiencing violence. However, in Brazil, this has been the reality for many adolescents. This study aims to integrate data on the phenomenon of violence experienced by adolescents in Brazil, especially in school contexts, and discuss it in the light of phenomenology. This study follows a qualitative approach, although the integrative review includes quantitative studies. The following boolean commands were used: adolescent AND school AND violence in the databases SciElo, BVSaúde, and PePsic. A total of 296 works were included, and 16 scientific articles were reviewed over a ten-year time frame. Adolescents suffer from numerous forms of violence that negatively affect their development, mental health, and consequently their self-perception. The establishment of effective public policies for mental health promotion and prevention is necessary, involving integrated efforts among adolescents, schools, families, and communities.
