UNDERSTANDING SUDDEN GRIEF DURING THE COUNTRY PANDEMIC COVID-19 AND THE PERSPECTIVE OF PSYCHOLOGY

The COVID-19 Pandemic has been a tragic milestone in human life. The resulting significant losses have had a major impact on the personal, family and social grieving process. The objective of this study is to understand sudden grief in its multidimensionality and the role of Psychology. It is an integrative literature review, of an exploratory and qualitative nature. The search was carried out in the scientific production databases PePsic, LiLacs and BIREME. The following Boolean commands were used: mourning OR COVID-19 AND research AND psychology OR health. 176 articles were found which, applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in the integration of 21 studies. Three categories were created: 1) The experience of grief and the mental health; 2) The pluridimensionality of death from COVID-19 and not being fired; 3) The role of Psychology. It is concluded that, faced with the tragedy brought about by the pandemic, psychology professionals were led to develop the necessary support for bereaved families and, in doing so, redimensioned psychological work inside and outside health units. The pandemic brought visibility to the importance of Psychology in the contemporary world.
