Abstract

Health and development are closely related categories, since, in order to ensure a healthy life and the promotion of well-being, it is necessary not only health actions and services, but also the guarantee of social and environmental conditions to live fully. This article aims to reflect on the existing knowledge and power relations in the use of popular health care practices, from the perspective of professionals working in the basic health unit of the community of Mentai - Rio Arapiuns, and their relationship with the Agenda 2030 to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3). The research was based on the theoretical framework of Popular Care Practices and has Michel Foucault's archaeological method as its methodological basis. For the production of data, interviews were conducted with health professionals working at the UBS of the community, located at Resex Tapajós-Arapiuns in Santarém - PA. Popular health care practices can play a significant role in promoting health and sustainability in the Amazon, especially in achieving SDG3 - Health and well-being, as these practices can collaborate to promote health and treat diseases, complementing official health systems.
