Abstract

Spelling learning lasts for several years and for some students mere exposure to written items and the attempt to memorize spelling rules are insufficient strategies to guarantee the scope of spelling writing. In the case of students with dyslexia, there are difficulties that do not disappear with the progression of schooling, persisting into adulthood. This work aims to present the development of an application called 'Cartas na Manga' to assist the spelling learning of words with digraphs for young adults with dyslexia. In recent years, the contribution of technology in the area of learning difficulties and disorders has been recognized. This application presents itself as a digital tool with an intuitive interface. The use of cards with images related to the tracing of the digraphs can favor the memorization of the correct spelling of words through associative visual elements (picture/letter), in addition to using a simple scoring system that challenges the user to achieve better performances. It is intended to collect user feedback for improvements in the application, create more difficulty levels and increase the word bank with frequent words in the Portuguese language that present consonant clusters.
