The following article aims to expose the translation process and an analysis of the reading of the critic, translator and writer gaucho Paulo Hecker Filho to the work Senbazuru of the Japanese writer, and Nobel of Literature of the year of 1968, Yasunari Kawabata. The article also raises questions regarding the interest of the Brazilian publishing market in the figure of Kawabata as a Nobel Prize. The study has as corpus of analysis the material of the collection of Paulo Hecker Filho available in DELFOS - Space of Documentation and Cultural Memory of PUCRS as well as the preface present in the translation of Senbazuru and publications in newspapers of that time.
