ABSTRACT: Children’s poetry, as Bordini says (1981), suffers from the obstacles of disregard for the initiatives related to the study of this area. The poetry of Piaui authors directed the child is disadvantaged with the lack of studies, although gradually they are establishing themselves, the investigation is still somewhat limited, consists of productions of little research in the academic sphere. Based on the children’s literary theory for the basis of the problem, the purpose of this research is to investigate the contribution of poetry of the authors of Piaui, Climério Ferreira (2008) and Martins Napoleão (2003) to poetry for children, as can be appreciated by this audience, the reader in training. It has, therefore, as objective to discuss the assumptions of children’s poetry, its specificities, to verify how these literary texts are suitable for reading children and their performance within the literature of Piaui. It is intended to analyze poems accessible to the mentioned public, considering the aesthetic peculiarities, elements, themes and constituent forms of the childhood poetic, such as the rhythmic sonority, linguistic elements and forms of construction by which induces the interaction of the child with the text enabling imaginative moments. An example of this is the dialogue established between the poem Um momento, na minha cidade humilde, and the circular music Ciranda, cirandinha, because Napoleão integrates the poem's imaginary theme with the specificities of Brazilian folklore and characterizes it as of popular origin. closer to the children's universe and can be considered adequate and accepted by the public.
