Cancer is a chronic disease that affects a diversity of tissues and affects the life of those who are affected and, when it appears in a child and adolescent, there are several changes that arise from the communication of the diagnosis affecting their interpersonal relationships and, consequently , your family structure. To minimize the damage that occurs from the communication of the diagnosis, the figure of the Psychology professional, specifically in this work of the specialist in Psycho-oncology, is essential. This research, entitled “Cancer and Psycho-Oncology: the intervention of the caregiver with juvenile patients in the conception of patients and professionals” aimed to understand the meaning of caring for Psycho-Oncology in the view of Phenomenological-Existential Psychology - meanings in the discourses of children and adolescents and professionals. It is a qualitative research and was developed according to the precepts of the phenomenological method, which advocates understanding the other in what he brings in his speech. Participants were 10 children and adolescents accompanied by the Support Group for Children with Cancer and a professional in Psycho-oncology, in Manaus. An audio-recorded interview was used based on a guiding question that was transcribed and analyzed based on the theoretical framework of Phenomenological-Existential Psychology. It can be seen that, when communicating the diagnosis, children and adolescents have abruptly changed their lives where they live with pain and suffering; that from the forms of intervention and the care provided by Psychology, there is a strengthening of themselves to face the situation that is installed demonstrating the importance of Psycho-oncology.
