Abstract

The quilombolas represent the resilience of a people that has a rich cultural history, of events that are intertwined with the history of Brazil. They are stories of struggles to defend their territory, their culture and processes of identity construction. This article aims to portray the trajectory of struggles and recognition of the quilombolas of the Amazon. This is a bibliographic research, with qualitative analysis, based on authors and works already carried out in the area of ​​the subject addressed. As a result of this research, we identified 8 quilombos recognized and titled by the Palmares Foundation, namely: the quilombo do Tambor (Novo Airão), Barranco de São Benedito (Manaus), Sagrado Coração de Jesus do Largo da Serpa (Itacoatiara), Ituquara, Boa Fé, Santa Tereza do Matupiri, São Pedro and Trindade (Barreirinha). In this way, it is possible to gather data and information, which portray the importance of social recognition for the quilombolas of the Amazon, thus bringing the light of knowledge about their current way of life, the struggles for the defense of territories, consecrating them as protagonists of our culture and identity.
