Abstract

The present work, subordinated to the theme: Physical-Chemical and Microbiological Evaluation of Water from Poços Shallows Used for Human Consumption after Treated by Moringa oleifera Seeds-Madal Locality, focused on evaluating the physical-chemical and microbiological quality of the water of shallow wells used for human consumption at the study site after being treated with Moringa oleifera seeds. The population residing in this location has difficulties in obtaining water for human consumption, due to the lack of a drinking water distribution network, living on the basis of water from the opening of shallow wells, which do not offer minimal sanitary security conditions. To make the study a reality, an applied research was used, which consisted of the treatment and analysis of water in shallow wells from Moringa oleifera minds, was approached in a qualitative and quantitative way that consisted of describing and enumerating the characteristics of shallow wells, water samples, physicochemical and microbiological components before and after treatment. The experimental activity was applied, which served as the foundation of the study and was carried out in four stages: the first consisted of the preparation of the powder of the seeds of Moringa oleifera, the second was the collection of water in four selected wells, the third was the treatment of the water sample with the Moringa oleifera seed powder, and the last laboratory analysis. It constituted systematic observation as a data collection technique. The study had a sample of four (4) shallow wells, selected intentionally. During the laboratory analysis, it was observed that in all wells before treatment they had a high level of contamination by coliform bacteria ranging from 289 to 507 CFU and a high level of turbidity of 7.59UNT and iron that ranged from 0.71 to 1.01mg / L , after treatment with Moringa oleifera seed powder, there was complete correction of parameters such as turbidity, which dropped from 7.59 to 1.68 UNT, iron was corrected from 0.71 to 0.03mg / L as well as total removal of total coliform bacteria in the wells number 1, 2 and 3 and, only well number 4, the bacterial load reduced from 507 CFU to 2 CFU which corresponds to a 99.6% reduction in total coliform bacteria colonies. However, there was total removal of Escherichia coli in all samples from the wells. It was concluded that the water in the shallow wells studied after being treated with Moringa oleifera seed in Madal locality had good physical-chemical and microbiological quality.
