Abstract

For the construction of a large dwelling, many times more resources are used, in relation to the construction of a small dwelling. Therefore, there is no doubt that the size of the houses in the Village of Caia one is related to the financial power or income of households. Thus, the most economically powerful families build spacious, weather-resistant houses. On the contrary, the most vulnerable families tend to build less spacious, less comfortable and less resilient housing. Among the various methods used to carry out the present study included: bibliographic consultation; the exploratory phase; the observation of the phenomenon under study, and later the collection for the subsequent processing of the data. Thus, this article constitutes a case study, which through observation, interviews the author sought to experiences the phenomenon under study. In fact, one of the ways to guarantee the possession of spacious houses is the construction of masonry houses. Poor families often build less spacious and resilient homes because the economic power of these families is weak. Otherwise, it is difficult to build a spacious and resilient housing, as long as the material used is precarious, because, if so, it can, for example, collapse easily. Therefore, socio-economic vulnerability is in fact a determining factor for the purchase of housing resilient to climate change and other inclement weather.
