HERBÁRIO COOE: IMPORTÂNCIA COMO FERRAMENTA DE ESTUDO E CONSERVAÇÃO DA BIODIVERSIDADE VEGETAL DE RONDÔNIA
Abstract
Brazil has a great wealth in the number of species in both fauna and flora, and due to the great devastation that nature has been suffering due to anthropic action, this biodiversity needs to be studied and preserved. Herbariums are of fundamental importance to assist with research material for all areas of science that use plants in their studies, such as Biology and Agronomy. The COOE herbarium has more than 1.100 specimens of plants that were collected mainly in the Southern Cone region of Rondônia. These plants are pressed, dried and arranged on a cardboard where they are sewn. Each specimen is registered using a number, containing data such as: scientific name, common name, date of collection, name of the collector and observations about the environment. A research center such as the COOE herbarium located in a region where there is little research on flora is of paramount importance, so that part of this biodiversity can be conserved in a biological collection.
