In this sense, the digital database platforms were used, in which the following descriptors were included in the abstract: Aquatic macrophytes, life forms, adaptive structures, aquatic plants, aquatic herbaceous plants, floristic survey and variants in English. Thirty-five scientific works were analyzed, from which 20 were selected. The analysis of the data obtained indicated that the journals published scientific articles on the use of aquatic macrophytes, in the period from 2004 to 2020. The results indicated that not only in Brazil, but that in several countries there are many studies on aquatic macrophytes showing that they can offer many benefits to society, including: Aquatic macrophytes, aquatic macrophytes as medicinal plants, aquatic macrophytes in carcinoculture, aquatic macrophytes as depolluters, aquatic macrophytes as fertilizers aquatic macrophytes such as PANC's, aquatic macrophytes such as forages, helping the economy, human and animal food and nutrition issues and also helping in folk medicine.
