The Context of Electronic Waste in the Municipality of Humaitá-AM
Abstract
The study addressed the disposal of electronic waste in microcomputer maintenance establishments in Humaitá, AM. Owners highlighted the influence of planned obsolescence on the lifespan of electronics. Opinions on responsibility for disposal varied, with some suggesting government intervention. The destination of electronic waste is diversified, with a lack of selective collection in the city. Recycling and reuse of electronics are not common practices in the analyzed establishments, and reverse logistics is poorly known, emphasizing the need for more information on environmental practices. Unfamiliarity with the National Solid Waste Policy underscores the importance of awareness and knowledge for the proper management of electronic waste. The study suggests the need for local initiatives to manage electronic waste disposal, emphasizing recycling, awareness, and implementation of the guidelines of the National Solid Waste Policy as crucial measures to address the increasing electronic waste in Humaitá, AM.
