Abstract

Conflicts involving indigenous peoples in the southern region of Amazonas have been taking place for many decades, allied to the construction of the Br-230. Over the years, these conflicts have taken on greater proportions, especially how they are dealt with by the local and national media, which intend to provide generic information, camouflaging other information. The arrest of indigenous people has become the key point for the possible resolution of these conflicts. After the re-democratization of the country and the new constitution of 1988, indigenous peoples had recognition of their customs, their social organization, their languages, beliefs and traditions, precedents of article (231), thus achieving a unique right before the State. This work aims to problematize the media representation in the face of the conflicting social situation of 2013, involving the death of Indians and non-Indians, seeking to highlight the webs that involve pejorative narratives that have served as the construction and naturalization of physical and symbolic violence against Kagwahiva indigenous peoples (Parintintin, Tenterin, Jiahui) in the south of the state.
