“NÃO HÁ MUDANÇA SEM SONHO”: A EDUCAÇÃO DE JOVENS E ADULTOS (EJA) COMO UM MOTOR DE ESPERANÇA
Abstract
: Considering that Paulo Freire vehemently and hatefully rejects the fatalism and immobilization of history, understanding it as a possibility and not as determinism, in this study dream and hope stand out as fundamental elements for the transformation of society and for the humanization of men and women. It starts from the assumption that school education participates in this movement, aware of and in line with Freire regarding the limits of its solitary contribution. In this context, Youth and Adult Education (EJA), as an educational modality, is conceived as the rescue of the right to education denied to male and female students at a given moment in history. Thus, based on the voices of EJA students interviewed in school institutions in the state of Goiás, who presented reflections on "their being" in EJA, a dialogue is proposed around the possibility of the modality being an engine of transformation in society , nurturing dreams and hope. The speeches reveal that the students who enter it dream and hope for changes in their living conditions, but are still very much linked to the prospects for improvement in terms of insertion/permanence/ascendance in the labor market. It is necessary to critically dream-hope, with a view to a human training for work, as opposed to training for the labor market, but that above all promotes the humanization of men and women and does not make EJA a lightening engine of basic schooling.
