Abstract

CONDIMENTAL PLANTS SURVEY IN THE COMUNITATY OF CRISTOLÂNDIA, HUMAITÁ-AM

 

 

ABSTRACT

The study of Ethnobotany, nowadays, has been considered as the result of many historical changes. This Science guarantees solid knowledge about the relationship between man and plants, and these with anthropic actions. With this, this research aimed to carry out a survey of spice plants in the Community of Cristolândia, in Humaitá-AM. Thus, an interview was conducted with semi-structured questions to the residents of that community using the snowball technique. For data analysis of each variable was done through descriptive statistics, performing the tabulation and organization of these in an Excel 2016 spreadsheet. The 50 people were interviewed and about 95% of them mentioned that they know what the spice plants, and this knowledge was passed on from generation to generation. Twenty-three species of spice plants were mentioned, the most cited being: lemon (Citrus limonum L.), chicory (Sonchus oleraceus L.), basil (Marsypianthes chamaedrys Vahl.), saffron (Curcuma longa L.), onion (Allium cepa L.), coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.), pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima Duchesne ex Lam.), annatto (Bixa orellana L.), garlic (Allium sativum L.) and chives (Allium fistulosum L.). Therefore, it was found that the residents of the Cristolândia community have knowledge of spice plants and use them daily in the feeding process.
