FROM BASIC EDUCATION TO HIGHER EDUCATION: CONTRIBUTIONS OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES TO PROMOTE STUDENTS' SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract: With the occurring changes in the world education needs to meet the new demands that arise in society. Thus, it is essential to promote the integral formation of students, from basic to higher education, developing meaningful learning strategies, which enable students to be prepared with the necessary skills to deal with the challenges of the globalized world. This study aims to analyze the contributions of digital technologies to the socio-emotional development of students today. This study is characterized as a qualitative research, and for data collection an online questionnaire containing open and closed questions was addressed to students (master's and doctoral students) of a Graduate Program in Education, aiming to identify their conceptions about the potentialities of educational technologies in the social and emotional development of individuals. The collected data were analyzed through discursive textual analysis (ATD). The results unanimously point to the need in developing socio-emotional skills in educational institutions, and most participants consider that technologies can contribute to this. Different digital resources are more or less effective in their contributions to these skills, video tools have been highlighted as being very effective. The teacher's role proved to be one of the main concerns of the researched population. Thus, it is understood that digital technologies can contribute significantly to the development of student’s socio-emotional skills, which is a relevant aspect that should be taken into account by educational institutions, aiming to qualify the education of individuals in the 21st century.
