INTERVENÇÕES DO PSICÓLOGO EM UNIDADES DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA NEONATAIS COM BEBÊS PRÉ-TERMOS E SEUS FAMILIARES
Abstract
This paper presents the results of a master's research, carried out in a public maternity hospital in Manaus, with the objective of investigating the possibilities of psychologist intervention in neonatal ICUs with preterm babies and their families. The theoretical approach of the research was psychoanalytic and the method used was the qualitative / comprehensivist. Six mothers, four family members and two psychologists were observed and interviewed. The data obtained through semi-structured interviews were submitted to content analysis, from which the following thematic categories were raised: 1) Importance of the psychologist's performance for the mothers; 2) Importance of the psychologist's performance for family members and 3) Importance of the psychologist's performance according to the professionals themselves. The techniques of psychological reception and guidance appeared as relevant interventions for the three groups interviewed. It was noticed that, although the importance of the psychologist's presence in the intensive care environment is recognized, it did not occur in a systematic way. Other possibilities for intervention were suggested in order to include parents, grandparents and siblings and the Health team itself.
