Abstract

This article intends to reflect on the importance of psychopegagogy in the context of high skills and giftedness. We used data related to intellectual production in the area of psychopedagogy and high skills / giftedness (scientific articles) available in the Directory of open Access Journals (DOAJ) and to analyze the practical performance of psychopedagogy, we opted to conduct semi-structured interviews with psychopedagogists who they work in basic education schools (one professional from the public network and the other from the private network). With the results of the research, there was a lack of academic work in the field of psychopedagogy involving the theme of high skills / giftedness, it was found that the difficulty in identifying the characteristics of students with high skills / giftedness constitutes a great challenge. , and the public network of the Federal District has a better structure both in the process of identifying and attending students with High Skills / Giftedness compared to the private network. It was thus found that even though they are the target audience of special education, students with high skills / giftedness are deprived of specialized educational assistance.
