Abstract

University youth in Cuba: a conceptual analysis

ABSTRACT

The autonomy of the Cuban university student body is based on the ideas of Cuban thinkers of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, about the role of culture and education in the development of the personality of citizens. Current pedagogical practices are heirs to this tradition of thought, consolidated from the second half of the 20th century until today, and it is summarized in the text of the University Reform of 1962. This article deals with important achievements and also problems to be solved in the education of university youth. A conceptual analysis, not just practical, has been necessary in order to deepen the explanations.
